Space on Hold

Questions owners ask

Do guests create an account?

No. You're the only one who signs in. The person booking gets a private link for that date, the receipt, and the visit. They never make a password.

When is a booking confirmed?

When the deposit is paid, and anything you asked for has come in. If you already have a file, you can let that booking through without it. If you didn't ask for insurance or a signature, the deposit is enough.

Can I turn a requirement off?

Yes. In settings you choose whether to ask for insurance, whether people sign the house rules, which rates you offer, and when you're open. You can change how much of the price the deposit is. It stays at least 1 percent.

What kinds of spaces is this for?

A wedding barn or backyard, an event hall, a photo or recording studio, a loft, or a meeting, party, or workshop room. One account can hold more than one space, up to eight. The type you pick fills in a starting point for the hours, the rates, and what you ask people to send. You can change those after.

What does it cost?

$59 a month for one room, or $590 if you pay for the year. Two or three rooms are $99 a month, or $990 for the year. The whole property, up to eight rooms, is $149 a month, or $1,490 for the year. The first 14 days are included on the first subscription checkout. That is what you pay for the software. The people who book pay you for the room. There are no booking fees. The owner pays Stripe's processing fee, and it comes out of the owner's payout. Stripe publishes the current typical US card rate at https://stripe.com/pricing. This app does not store that rate.

Where does the card deposit go?

To you. Stripe is the company that takes the card and sends the money to your account. The card form stays off until you finish that setup. You can still write in a booking they paid by Venmo, cash, or check. There are no booking fees. The owner pays Stripe's processing fee, and it comes out of the owner's payout. Can this page be my website?

Yes, if you want it to be. You pick a page address, such as northroom.spaceonhold.com, and you can change that name later. If you already own a domain, type it in settings. You'll see a CNAME to add where you bought the domain, and a TXT record. The domain stays off until that TXT record matches. After it matches, your domain shows the same page: the photos, the hours, the price, and the button to book. You can also keep a website you already have and send people this link. That's the address you text or email.

Does every room start with a certificate of insurance?

No. Photo studios, lofts, and barns start with a certificate and signed house rules. A hall starts with the rules only, and so does a meeting room, a party room, or a workshop room that uses that starting point. A podcast, recording, or rehearsal room starts with the rules only. You can change that on the room.

Can I record a Venmo payment?

Yes. You can enter a booking they already paid by Venmo, cash, or check. That path doesn't charge a card.

I already list on Peerspace. Do I have to leave?

No. A listing can keep bringing people to the room. Space on Hold doesn't bring people in. You still tell people about the room, however you already do. Keep the listing if it pays for itself, and send them this page to book.
