Peerspace is a marketplace. We aren't, and you still do the marketing.
Peerspace introduces people to a listing and keeps a host fee. Space on Hold doesn't find anyone for you. You still tell people about the room, on your own site, on Instagram, or with a listing if that listing is worth keeping. When they want the room, they book on your page. You don't have to leave Peerspace to use this.
The difference, from their pages and from this software
| Peerspace | Space on Hold | |
|---|---|---|
| The job | A marketplace. A stranger finds a listing and sends a request. | This is the page they book on. Send people here, or let it be your website. It won't find people for you. |
| What they keep | Peerspace’s help center says listing is free, there's no membership fee, and the host service fee is 20 percent of the booking amount and of extra charges such as cleaning and add-ons. The host sees the fee on the request. | You pay the software price on the pricing page. There are no booking fees. The owner pays Stripe's processing fee, and it comes out of the owner's payout. Stripe publishes the current typical US card rate. This app does not store that rate. |
| When it's a yes | The host has two business days to accept or decline. If they do neither, the request expires. Accepting charges the guest in full. | If the time is still free and the deposit goes through, the time is held. It's confirmed when the deposit is in and the files you required are in. If you required nothing else, the deposit is enough. |
| The money | The host payout is the license charge minus the host fee, processed after the booking date. Their help center says within 7 days after that date. | A card deposit is a Stripe charge to the account you connect. The card button stays off until that account can take charges. You can record Venmo, cash, or a check yourself. |
| Insurance | Peerspace talks about coverage inside its own product. This page doesn't restate their policy. | If you turn the certificate on, the booking stays unconfirmed until the file is in, or until you waive it and write why. Space on Hold doesn't insure the room. |
A single direct booking can cost more than a month of software once a percent comes off. This page doesn't guess your rates, and it doesn't promise a dollar amount you'll save.
